While the grandparents were visiting from out of town, Krishna asked me to come do a two hour in-home family photojournalism session for their family. Three generations spending rich time together, inside and out, for days on end, is a such a unique opportunity to make lasting memories (and photographs). These kiddos are SO cute, jumping on beds, crawling around naked while resisting clothing, having sink baths, playing in the sandbox and collecting sticks. And all the while, they’re lovingly surrounded by the presence of their attentive parents and doting grandparents. This is a beautiful family, inside and out. Come have a look…
Sometimes a newnborn photography session also turns out to be a saying-goodbye-to-our-first-home session. See, while Annah was laboring for Eden, they made an offer on a house that they’d long been waiting to come onto the market. New baby, new home, all in the span of a couple of days. It’s crazy, but it’s their awesome story of a good Father who sees and loves them.
Without further ado…
These people are some of my favorite. I’m allowed to say that because they are my family. So many little details in the photos from this session speak to the kind of wonderful people they are. From the athletic clothes giving clues to their family adventures and commitment to caring for their bodies, to the involved coffee-making process that’s a clue to the emerging coffee roasting business my brother is working on, to the books and papers showing their priority attention to loving God and caring for the people of the Church… just a million small things that speak to a beautiful, vibrant family life.
And my favorite shot: the one where mom and dad are trying to have a moment on the back step whilst all four children watch them through the window. Isn’t that how it goes?!
Being a Grand Rapids family photographer is always great, but especially so when you get to turn the camera in the direction of your own family.
Her entrance was so memorable, and she’s still rocking her parents’ world. What a joy to track with this little one, coming back to photograph her again as she enters her second year of life. These sweet, simple moments + cake smash + presents + visiting relatives = happiest of birthdays!
But she's going by Charlie. :)
And she's surrounded with cheerful noise and blur of activity in this family. She's already smiling like she likes it that way.
This West Michigan newborn photographer will never grow weary of being near and capturing the nuanced and ever-shifting facial expressions of tiny babies in their parents' arms. If you're interested in a newborn session like this one for your own soon-coming baby, reach out while you're still pregnant. :)
It's been a big year for this couple: their baby born, a new job accepted, and a relocation from NYC to Grand Rapids, MI. And the once-baby is now on the brink of turning 1 whole year old. It baffles the mind, how time flies away. So here's to new beginnings in a new home, and with a freshly minted 1 year old.
Friends, your family is worth this sort of documentation, this sort of telling and remembering, treasuring, and collecting. Reach out this week and schedule your own session. I'm booking into October and November currently.
